Morning: Psalm 119:97-120; I Samuel 2:12-26; Acts 2:1-21
Evening: Psalm 81, 82; Luke 20:27-40
What
happens when we die? We’re uncertain enough about it that there’s a
whole industry devoted to putting it off as long as possible. They tried
to tie Jesus in knots with questions about who would be married to whom
in the after-life. Jesus bid them not to speculate about what he
suggested is a totally different reality. He simply affirmed that God
is God of the living not of the dead. For Jesus, life is our final
destiny, not death. The details are beyond us and need not occupy our
energies.
