Evening: Psalm 34; Luke 14:12-24
Jesus
seems to be saying this … when you do something kind for someone, check
that your generosity is not marred by ulterior motives. If you wonder
what the benefits will be for you, for example, when you care for a
person, or give to a cause, something is off. Generosity lets go of
gifts as soon as they are given … no further expectations, no wishes for
‘thank yous’ or anything in return. Generosity is an expression of
complete freedom – no strings attached. Anonymity helps, too.
