Ramadan,
the Muslim holy fast, has begun - a time of heightened devotion, prayer
and fasting, when believers focus their attention on the divine power
and mercy. Jesus’s healings in today’s Gospel – an official’s daughter
and a woman with haemorrhages – are, Jesus says, due to the faith of
those who come to him for help. No doubt he enlists the strong wills
and trust of the official and the woman, and that helps them immensely.
But this story is saying much more … This story is a testimony to the
real healing power of faith.
