Evening: Psalms 142, 143; John 17:1-11
When
you try to serve the truth, others watch to see if you’re for real.
You protect the truth by living well. Christ suffers again when
believers behave badly. People stop trusting him because Christians
are untrustworthy. Those who break the bread and drink the wine of
Jesus’ new covenant must embody the new reality it stands for. Jesus
prayed for us to get our act together, and to join in common cause for
the sake of others, not for ourselves. Together Christians, working together for good … That would be glorious. That would enhance God’s reputation in the world!
