Evening: Psalms 78:40-72; John 7:37-52
Prophets
often explain that trouble comes from our failing to listen to God.
They predict that trouble will continue if we do not mend our ways. But
we find that to be almost impossible. From generation to generation,
we humans mess up! On a more positive note, Paul realizes it’s faith
that really changes things, and those who believe God will, like
Abraham, do what is right. Faith transforms us. Jesus promised: “out of
the believer’s heart shall flow rivers of living water”; those who
believe become channels of life to others, bearers of God’s good Spirit.
