Evening: Psalm 91, 92; Luke 9:28-36
Communication
in our culture mostly means talking or telling or typing. Rarely does
communication mean listening. We do not place a high value on
listening. That’s why prayer is undervalued; prayer is mostly
listening, yet we prefer to talk. Even in prayer we prefer words over
silence. But the only way to listen is to be quiet. A remarkable event
on the mountaintop is reported in the Gospels – Jesus face shines as he
prays and his disciples hear a voice say, “This is my Son, my Chosen,
listen to him.” Have we listened yet? Have you listened yet to Jesus?
